During my time at Michigan State University (MSU), I have faced unexpected opportunity for growth across multiple facets of my life. I believe this experience has allowed me to explore and tie together ideas that have influenced my core beliefs both professionally and personally.
For instance, in the last year I have been moved by the value of academic research and fueled to explore the mechanisms of ethical leadership. I have been able to align and apply my learned knowledge into tangible and real practice as an administrator in the decision-making process. Simultaneously, my leadership skill set and mindset have evolved and been enhanced from when I started the program and I, now, believe it as important a skill as any other concrete ability.
Through practice and projects, I have been able to harness my understanding of what I know and understand as an educator. While all of these experiences are too numerous to showcase in totality, I have elected to highlight key experiences that reflect general themes that indicate my growth or evolution as a learner. This portfolio of work also showcases my repertoire of abilities with a range of tech tools essential in the modern field of education.

LEARNING COMMUNITIES
Environments to guide autonomous learning can be found everywhere. Here, I highlight work supported by two of the communities that I explored in my studies: makerspaces and online learning communities.
Networked Learning ProjectOctober 18, 2017
Using only free online resources and forums, we were tasked with building a learning network to develop a skill. I chose to learn how to play the piano. |

ENHANCED PRACTICE
Exploring and applying learned concepts like design thinking, evidence based practice and problem solving approaches during the program allowed me to give form to the work below that embodied my growing comprehension.
Wicked Problem of Practice (WPP)April 22, 2018
Part of our long-term learning involved breaking down the process of problem solving and design thinking. In this instance, we identified a complex problem and tried to define a complex, evidence-based solution. |

Formative Assessment August 13, 2016
In my first class at Michigan State University (MSU), I designed many formative assessment experiences using evidence-based research and recommended practices. In the first screencast, I explain some of the design decisions that I made using a learning management system (LMS) to assess adult basic education learners in their math skills. In the second video, I used Minecraft to create a scaffolded digital literacy assessment. |
LEADERSHIP
The most evident growth for me has been in understanding what my leadership role could and should be in my career. Here are exemplars of skills and beliefs that I feel showcase my comprehension in this area.
Data Evaluation for Program DesignJuly 3, 2018
As a final project, we were tasked with creating a product that would affect our practice within our learning environment. I elected to create a data story using Tableau to show our teachers who our students are to give them perspective about how to better understand their needs. |
Leadership PrinciplesAugust 16, 2018
I have been faced with many instances of decision-making as an administrator in my professional practice over the last two years. Simultaneously, I have actively researched and reflected on how leaders make ethical decisions. This video highlights seven principles for leadership according to the idea of action logic. |

Problem of Practice - PD PlanApril 18, 2017
I chose to address professional development and technology integration as a complex problem of practice to put together a cohesive solution. In the image, I lay out the design thinking for the three (3) year plan for tech integration. In this summary, I address the main points that I considered during this process. |
